Initial Teacher Training
Our partnership believes that all teachers should have the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience in supporting SEND learners as part of their initial teacher training.
We are proud to have a strong collaborative partnership with University of Sunderland and though our core and alliance partners provide a wide range of specialist SEND opportunities for a wide range of their training courses including Primary, Secondary and PCET routes. Placements range from experiential visits and focus days through to main placement across a wide range of our SEND partner schools.
ETSP also very much value the role of mainstream schools in supporting SEND learners to progress. Supporting SEND through our wider partners ensures that all of our trainees are equipped to support learning and progress with inclusive approaches for all learners.
As well as continuing our established partnerships we are pleased to have been allocated School Direct places across a variety of subjects with placements based a wide range of our regional partner schools
School Direct is a new way for people to train to become teachers. There are various routes into the profession, and for those wishing to seek clarification, the Teaching Agency is the best starting point: www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching
At this time Epinay Business and Enterprise School do not have any SEND based SD places but all SD trainees who gain placement through any of our partner schools have the opportunity to request specific SEND experience in ETSP partner schools as part of their training.
